Enjoy your love for Roses...anywhere!Love Roses? Would you love to have Roses in your garden but you don't have any gardening space? Are you limited by a balcony, patio, or deck...not a problem, all you need is six hours of direct sunlight (hot climates direct sunlight should be in the afternoon)and a large garden container, and yahoo, you have a Rose Garden. Containers for Roses must be large enough to accommodate the deep roots of the Rose bush and ample growing space. Start with a container 18 inches in diameter and 14 inches deep, this will allow for at least 2 years of growing space before repotting is necessary. Larger pots help to retain moisture and nutrients, and insulate roots from temperature extremes. Miniature Roses can be grown in much smaller containers, just allow for some growth. Consider your Rose container very carefully, the heavier the container the harder it will be to move. If you have an area where moving the container will not be necessary then you can use a stone, clay or concrete container. Otherwise, consider using a lightweight container such as a copper, galvanized, plastic, foam or fiberglass. |
