Decorating your Garden
Outdoor decor can be so much fun even for the novice. And, it doesn't matter whether you have the big backyard that grandmother used to plant her lush gardens of yesterday. If you are one of the many urban dwellers in today's world, then welcome to today's gardening. A garden spot can be created in almost any setting and any climate. If you live in the hot arid Southwest or the lush South Florida tropics, you can have a beautiful balcony, patio, or deck garden. There are all kinds of garden decor, limited only by your imagination and your budget. You can create a theme, or add things that you like as you go. There are all types of metalware designed items that can be used to decorate your garden: fountains, birdbaths, sundials, forged plant hangers, metal plant stands, chimes, and whimsical items such as bugs, birds, flowers, all types of object art...the list goes on and on. As seasons and holidays come and go, you may want to use a holiday or a seasonal theme to change your garden decor from time to time. You can accomplish this by adding to your central theme, or by storing items for the next season to be used again and again. Let's use an example: You are a china lover and would love your garden decor to reflect your passion of collecting beautiful china. Browse estate sales, tag sales, garage sales, junk shops and charities, pick up broken and chipped plates, saucers, cups, creamers, sugar bowls. These items can be found at real bargains, discounted prices. Use these pieces to plant in and around your garden decor. Broken plates & saucers can be used to decorate the edge of your flowerbed or container. Plant miniature plants in teacups and set them on outdoor tables or add to an existing flowerpot. Use china coffee pots, chocolate pots, teapots and vases to hold trailing plants. Use these also to add height and dimension to a garden container full of trailing plants. Just use your imagination; you will have so much fun seeing the rewards of your effort. |
